First World War 1914-1918

Research was undertaken to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. Information about the memorials and the men remembered on them may be found in this section.The War Memorial was constructed and unveiled in 1918, in memory of men from Great Easton, Duton Hill and Tilty.
Research into Hugh Furley, whose name is included in the Roll of Honour kept in Great Easton Church, but is not on the War MemorialGeorge Perry was from Duton Hill. He was born in 1892 and died in France in 1916. George served with the Essex Yeomanry alongside his good friend Percy Appleton, who survived the war.
Victor Edwin Clarke was born in 1892, and lived in Croys Grange, Great Easton. He died in Gallipoli on the 7th August 1915.
